The New Orleans drumming style is very special and important for a
jazzband. So it is crucial for a drummer to understand and to study
that style profoundly in order to be able to adopt and play properly in that genre.

THE BIG "4" - This is one of the most important elements in
New Orleans drumming: The accent on the "4", and NOT on the "1".
In this video Wynton Marsalis explains the New Orleans drumming style
to an audience of school kids. This is a great lesson for all jazz drummers.
